The American Dream: pop to the present
Factory Settings have completed the construction of 'The American Dream: Pop to the Present' at the British Museum.
This project was contracted as a two stage tender. Therefore Factory Settings were appointed early in the process, and worked with the museum and designers Nissen Richards Studios to develop and realise the design within the aspired budget.
This process was exceptionally efficient as we were able to consult at an early stage before designs were finalised. The result was excellent value for money for the museum.
The collaborative approach with all stakeholders meant that we could input on fabrication techniques early on, and the design team could then use this in their final design pack.
Our draughting team worked alongside the designers, and construction drawings were created in parallel to the design process, enabling a smooth transition to the workshop.
The show is a mix of construction of normal set works walls, along with many special finish display surfaces, using aluminium, steel and fabric. There are also a number of hanging elements in the show that were engineered and installed by Factory Settings.
We are unable to show images of the final installed exhibition due to copyright issues. But the install is the best bit anyway....
