Somewhere in Between
A collaborative exhibition involving artists and scientists. This project called for a level of adaptability and enthusiasm for design development that Factory Settings has become known for. In concert with the designers at Matheson Whiteley, and the client, Factory Settings devised a cost-effective method of acoustic panelling around the main space using fabric and closed-cell foam. Allowing a polished design feature to be achieved within a limited budget.
Other developed features included an embedded LED-lighting strip that achieved an ambient-illuminated shadow gap, and a fully out-fitted 16mm-projection space, finished with an acoustically controlled corridor, one-way mirror boxed in glazing, and sound-sealed projector compartments. All these features were developed in tandem with a rigorous value-engineering process, which kept costs low in an intricate, multi-faceted build.
